Walrus' Lettering and Revisions

This morning I entered the workshop and took a look at the Walrus sign. One look was more than enough to know that I would be swapping the older ''feather'' of Pearlman's hat for a new and better version. Yesterday I had ran to the dollar store and found myself some garden metal art and snagged two metal leaves off of it and attach it to the Walrus's hat. Having done that, I feel on the the right path now, as these metal feathers convey my vision so much better, and keeps the magic of the piece alive.
Later this morning I got to adding some more clay revisions on the walrus's hat and then also on Superdog Jake's car. The bigger task of today was tackling the lettering on the Walrus sign. I had the text and font reference all prepared for me on my phone, then got to sculpting. It took about an hour or so to do just the 7 letters, but the result is well worth it!

That being said, I can do lettering well like this (with clay, hand sculpted) but something tells me that I'll want to learn more about CNC routing or CNC milling so I can get the computer to cut letters for me. Either on wood, foam or steel, either way it'd be a game-changer.
Next up, I will let the clay harden then paint both pieces. In the meanwhile, I went online and purchased from Amazon a pack for gold leafing as I would like to apply this to some of the lettering. Soon these projects will have a whole lot more color!
Stay tuned...
