Painting the Walrus

Today I got to tackle a new phase of the project: painting!
It took a little bit to get started but once i gathered my paints and materials, I was in the zone! It was a little challenging to paint it but very meditative as well. I spray painted the rim gold and feather and painted in the base coats for the walrus, including his hat and the background. I am still on the fence, deciding whether or not to keep the blue background, as this is a very warm tone piece. I may swap it for a warmer color background, like a beish.
After the base coats, I went over it with a light wash of a darker brown to give shadows wherever needed. I am feeling very triumphant with how it is turning out!

So far I got the eyes blocked in but will need some more refinement. By the end of the week this project should be all painted, refined, and hooked up to a mounting piece to ready it for the wall! I am getting really excited to be bringing my own designs to life! It will look so awesome on the workshop wall, and will be the first of many more projects to come!
As for the Superdog Jake Sculpture, tomorrow I will set it up so I can get started painting it. I am looking forward to this one aswell, as it has a very nice blue and yellowish gold color scheme.
Stay tuned...
