Muskox Sign

Lately as I've been finishing up the previous two projects, I've gotten to begin a new piece, it's the muskoka's conservatory sign. I had drawn up the design several days ago from a mere sketch in my drawing booklet.

After some initial brainstorming and planning, I went out and got some pieces of wood that i would use to construct the armature.

So far it is turning out really well. I do still at times stop to scratch my head and wonder how I am going to proceed with whatever next step. This seems to make the each new project a journey of learning new things and ways of fabricating my designs.

Anyways. In the meanwhile I also got to mix up some concrete for a little portfolio exploration piece. The concrete i soon came to discover was a very rough mix - that is, the aggregate is gravel so its very patchy and chunky. This is great for modelling rock textures, but would not be great for textures that need a smoother finish like wood. Its good to know though.

I remind myself that each time I do, I learn.

Next up for Muskoka's sign I will continue to construct the armature building up from where I left off. I got alot done in just today! I am planning to use mostly concrete for the surface texturing after I construct the armarture. And then clay for the Muskox.

I am excited to see this big project come to life!

Stay tuned..
