I got some more work done on my little relief sculpting project. After waiting for a day, i got to do the painting. It was a little tricky to get around all the corners of the clay but i managed fairly well. As i applied another coat, it began to look better already.

I am really pleased with how it all turned out. It is soo cool to feel the characters coming off of the front cover of the book. It gives it all a more immediate lively effect. Can you imagine if everybook cover was like this? Once the base colors were set in, i went in and added the shadows and then highlights such as on Ivory's beak. My favorite part was doing the eyes. I added a few thin layers of gloss varnish to the eyeballs to give it a more shiny effect.

I'm looking forward to what next project i may do. Oh yes, and more on that. Today i got to go visit Home Building center and man i had my eyes open. It was alot of fun to look around at the concrete mixes and imagine myself using them soon to make some really cool theme environments. I purchased some more armature wire and a wooden base for whatever next sculpture i feel like doing.
Stay tuned..
