Drawer Remodelling

This past week, I got up to some new projects, the first one being a bedside drawer makeover.

I had caught a cold and had lots of time imagining all the ways i could transform my bedrooms objects into cooler themed pieces. I drew up a bit of a design for the drawer and spontaneously ran to the workshop to get started. I removed the handles, and then stapled on the metal lath to the two drawers.
After that I was read to begin mixing up some concrete. It was a lot of fun applying it! I let the cement set for a little while, and then pretty soon I was forming the basic shapes of the rocks.

I loved this part. Both creative and intuitive, forming the rock shapes. By the next day I came back and found that the cement was hard as a rock (pun intended). I sat down and spent a good portion of the morning painting it.
It's a fantastic start to theming the objects around me! I am now beginning to see things both as they are now but also what they could be. What i could make them into!
Stay tuned...
